THE LEGENDS OF OZ MPC README
Welcome to Multicom's The Legends of OZ!
Please read the following information before you explore the
exciting world of OZ.
CD-ROM COMMON CONSIDERATIONS
In order to run this title, your CD-ROM drive needs to be
MPC compatible.
Please set your Windows Wallpaper and Screen Saver to "None"
before running this program.
Your disc must be properly placed in the drive unit. The
techniques for this vary depending on the manufacturer. All
external CD-ROM units need to be properly plugged in, turned
on, and correctly wired to your computer.
If you take the above steps but still have problems getting
the unit to run, read the product's documentation and/or
call that manufacturer's technical support department.
INSTALLING THE LEGENDS OF OZ
1. Turn on your computer and start Windows.
2. Ensure that your CD-ROM drive is turned on if it is an
external model. Place the disc in the CD caddy, if your
drive requires it, and insert the disc into the drive.
3. From Program Manager, access File Manager. Click on the
letter representing your CD-ROM drive--we'll use 'd' for
this discussion.
4. Find the install.exe file in the d: drive and double-
click on it. Then press okay to run the program.
5. Answer all installation questions that appear on the
screen, and the program will create an icon for the title
once the installation is complete.
6. Exit Windows and re-boot your computer before running
this program. Afterwards, simply double-click on The
Legends of OZ icon to run the program.
7. In order for the title to run properly, you will need to
turn off any screen saver that is running. You may
reinstate the screen saver after exiting the program.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
_ MPC or equivalent
_ 20MHz 80486SX or better
_ 2MB RAM required (4MB recommended)
_ DOS 3.1 or later
_ Microsoft Windows 3.1
_ Hard drive
_ MPC-compatible CD-ROM drive (680 MB)
_ VGA display (256 colors), audio board, and mouse
_ Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions 2.2 or later
If the program running speed is slow, the problem may be
related to your computer's available memory. Without at
least 2MB of total memory, The Legends of OZ will not run.
If you encounter technical problems, run MPCTEST.EXE from
the CD-ROM. This program will help you troubleshoot
potential problem areas.
AUDIO HELP
Before calling customer support or perusing lengthy
documentation to find answers to audio questions, verify
that you have satisfactory speakers and that you have them
connected correctly.
We recommend that you examine the manufacturer's
documentation for your sound board installation. Improper
sound level settings often cause common distortion,
unusually low or high volume, or no sound at all. You may
also need to reinstall the sound driver, or consult the
technical support department of your sound board's
manufacturer.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT
We at Multicom will gladly receive your call if you need
technical support. However, answers to your questions often
already exist within the help files or package
documentation. Otherwise, call us Monday-Friday between the
hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. PST at 206-622-5530.
Please have ready the disc's title, version, your hardware,
the problem and/or message on screen indicating a problem,
and how you arrived at the trouble spot. It is always
recommended that you call from a location nearby your
computer system.
We hope you enjoy this Multimedia experience!
Thank you.
